Ryan Wilk -- NuData Security; Jad Mikhail -- Kohl's

With myriad data breaches occurring in recent years, data on hundreds of millions of consumers is readily available for purchase by and to cybercriminals, making eCommerce businesses prime targets for account takeovers and other threats. This presentation reviews the scope of the fraud problem, then looks at ways in which fraud can be stopped prior to users reaching the checkout pipeline. The concept of continuous verification is depicted in detail, with Kohl's sharing how they utilize this approach to avoid performing all risk-based checks at the time of purchase. The slides conclude with benefits of continuous verification and components of a layered risk mitigation system.
