The Evolution and Key Success Drivers of the Payment Function
Traditionally payments leaders at online and omni-channel retailers were tasked with reducing costs; now many companies are instead using payments as a means to drive strategic growth. In this presentation, one-on-one interviews with 12 merchant payments leaders are condensed into seven characteristics. Subjects discussed include using payments as a competitive advantage, how organizational structures are evolving, relationship-building strategies with payments partners, and the role A/B testing is playing for the interviewed merchants. The presentation also spotlights the impact of payments on the customer experience, new approaches to key performance indicators, and payments leadership roles.
