Fake accounts and bot attacks are a rising phenomena in digital commerce but are often difficult to detect in real time because they are often perpetrated by legitimate personas and the merchants don’t always have sufficient protective measures in place. Fraud is already quite sophisticated in APAC. When you throw in the fact that bots can be used for literally anything - to steal items, to purchase unique items, scrape details, create accounts, attempt logins with username/email and password - at scale and speed, monetary losses can add up really fast.

Learning Objectives:

  • Why are fake accounts and bot attacks a revenue problem?
  • What can merchants do to identify it and prevent it?
  • Why it’s important to include bots as part of your overall fraud-fighting strategy and not treat it in a silo.
