RBA Interchange Surcharging
RBA Interchange Surcharging Review
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has released a consultation paper on interchange and related fees, focusing on transparency, pricing controls, and broader concerns in the payments sector. Whilst much of this is positioned in the context of surcharging, a priority issue in Australia, the RBA's stance on interchange and card scheme fees could influence other regulators globally.
The MRC has collaborated with its merchant members to draft a position paper reflecting practical approaches to facilitate low-cost payments in Australia.
You can access the position paper for detailed insights. Additionally, you may review the RBA's original guidelines for submission of feedback.
