As AI agents begin initiating transactions directly with merchants, the payments stack faces a new test: can today’s approval, fraud, and cost structures handle an agent-driven checkout?
In this session, CMSPI's Maximilian Fuchs and Robbie MacDiarmid are joined by Payment Operations Lead at Depop, Martha Southall, exploring early findings from live agentic transaction testing and what they reveal about the next frontier of payments performance. We’ll examine how agent-initiated purchases differ from traditional eCommerce flows, what happens to approval rates and fraud thresholds when intent is machine-generated, and whether existing routing, authentication, and optimization strategies still apply.
Attendees will come away with a clearer view of how agentic commerce could reshape the KPIs that define success - from authorisation and chargebacks to conversion and cost of acceptance - and the data merchants need to stay ahead of that shift.
