Recertification
Recertification Options
Upon earning the CPFPP credential, certification remains valid for three years from the date the CPFPP credential was awarded (one recertification cycle). Certificants can recertify by retaking the exam or by earning and reporting continuing professional education (CPE) credits.
Recertifying with CPE Credits
The CPE credits encompass a broad spectrum of activities that the MRC believes reflect continual learning opportunities. These activities validate the professional’s knowledge and strengthen the Payments and Fraud Prevention Professional by reinforcing essential skills and developing new ones.
Review general recertification requirements when applying based on earned CPE credits:
- Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits must come from nationally approved or recognized continuing education organizations.
- Certificants opting to recertify through continuing education credits must obtain 60 CPE credits within a 3-year recertification cycle. At least 15 CPE credits must be earned through the MRC (completing online courses and conference workshops, speaking at conferences, etc.).
- Non-CPE credit hours may be accepted on a case-by-case basis via self-attestation.
- All CPE credits must be related to the role of the Payments and Fraud Prevention Professional.
- CPE credits must be distributed throughout the three-year recertification cycle.
- Renewal applications and activity logs are due 30 days before the end of the recertification cycle.
- Certificants are responsible for maintaining records of the earned CPE credits within the CPFPP certification portal.
