AI agents are beginning to shop, pay, and negotiate on behalf of humans, and behind the scenes, a new web of “agent protocols” is forming to make it all possible. From the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which connects agents to merchant data, to emerging payment standards like AP2 and ACP, these frameworks could redefine how commerce occurs.
In this interactive workshop, we’ll demystify what each protocol does, who’s behind it, and why it matters for merchants. Together, we’ll explore how control, cost, and liability may shift in an agent-driven world, and identify practical steps merchants can take today to stay ahead of the curve as agentic commerce transitions from theory to reality.
