Reduce the Risk of Payment Fraud Due to Carding Attacks

Pan Kamal and Liel Strauch -- PerimeterX

Presentation

Card testing occurs when fraudsters attempt to make low-value online purchases using lost or stolen payment cards to determine whether a card is still valid or has been cancelled. If a transaction is approved, fraudsters will then typically attempt a higher value order with the same card.

This presentation starts by highlighting the current fraud landscape and problems caused by automated fraud, then explores five costs associated with carding attacks. The focus shifts next to patterns and indicators tied to carding, followed by details on two types of carding bots. The slides close with tips to stop carding and links to resources from PerimeterX.
