The Lack of Payment Data Problem: The Strategy for Card-Not-Present Fraud Prevention

Patrick Drexler -- Nethone

Presentation

Now that the Strong Customer Authentication provisions of the Payment Services Directive, PSD2, have taken effect, it is worth re-examining what is and what is not subject to SCA. This presentation highlights which types of transactions are out of scope and which are exempt from SCA altogether, then summarizes how 3DS Secure and SCA are being utilized in key eCommerce markets outside of Europe. The slides then look at types of fraud prevention systems which are payment-agnostic and conclude with a concise analysis of machine learning models which use no payment data.
