A new wave of fraud isn’t coming from professional rings, but rather from mostly young, carefree digital natives. Many consumers are now learning how to commit first-party and refund fraud from TikTok, Reddit, and Discord communities where it’s framed as “life hacks” or “beating the system.” This normalization, which is often wrapped in humor, viral challenges, or pseudo-financial advice, is blurring the line between opportunism and intentional fraud. As economic pressure rises and platforms reward engagement over accuracy, “fun fraud” is rapidly gaining cultural legitimacy. This session examines how merchants should respond before these tactics become entrenched consumer behavior. Attendees will learn how to distinguish naïve misuse from malicious intent, how to build policies that align consequences with customer education, and how AI-driven behavioral analytics can help detect emerging patterns early
