Maximizing Customer Experience and Minimizing Friction under PSD2 and SCA

Guy Zucker and Jonathan Hsieh -- Forter

Presentation

One of the most sweeping changes for eCommerce companies being introduced in the revised Payment Services Directive, PSD2, is Strong Customer Authentication, which mandates that businesses use a minimum of two different authentication factors to verify online transactions in the European Economic Area. In this presentation, Forter provides an overview of PSD2 and the SCA provisions, followed by a synopsis of the PSD2 exemptions and 3D Secure. Next, ramifications of PSD2 SCA for merchants are highlighted, focusing on customer friction and authorization rates. The slides conclude with strategies to mitigate these impacts and an overview of Forter's PSD2 solution.
