The Automated Clearing House (ACH) processes direct debit transactions and credit transfers between participating financial institutions. For merchants whose payment mix is dominated by credit cards, ACH can represent an attractive alternative. This deck compares and contrasts key points about these two payment options, then highlights pertinent facts about same-day ACH and real-time payments. Five fraud types are then detailed, along with two approaches to help mitigate ACH risk.
