In a number of emerging markets, debit cards are widely used at physical points of sale but are not enabled for eCommerce transactions. For online retailers, this typically means a multi-step checkout and payment flow, which adversely impacts conversion. In this deck, Netflix and PayU present an alternative, which is creating an online direct debit system. Barriers to creating this setup and a sample process flow diagram are included, along with lessons learned.
