Once relegated to Information Technology and Security use cases, tokens are taking on an increasingly important role in the payments world. This presentation introduces the concept of tokenization and includes examples relevant to eCommerce. Attention is then paid to the complexities introduced by tokenization, the importance of tokenization management, and payment account references (PARs for short). The slides conclude with a look at loyalty programs, customer retention, and examples of the new purchasing experiences tokenization can enable and support.
