In May 2021, the RBA proposed a set of changes to Australia’s card fee regulation. The proposals are intended to stymie some of the impact of years of rising costs and complexity in Australian payments, and could be game-changing for retailers.

However, the nature and impact of this impending regulation is yet to be determined and ultimately, merchants must make preparations for all outcomes in order to make the most of any upcoming changes.
